Workshops and Bootcamps

4TH & 5TH GRADE

Adding More Detail

A 90-minute, small group workshop for 4th and 5th graders who need more explicit instruction in elaboration

Does your child fixate on “how many sentences” they have to write? Or write the bare minimum despite having plenty more to say? In this class, students will learn how to elaborate on their ideas without feeling like they’re writing more. Beth will show them ways to “plan and expand” before they write so they can meet that 5-7 sentence minimum in less time and with less stress… for both of you!

Literary Analysis Workshop

A four-session, small group class for 6th and 7th graders who need more explicit instruction in writing claims, selecting evidence & analyzing it

The words every student dreads: Say more about this. What more is there to say?? A LOT… but they need to be taught how. In this class, students will be shown how to complete each step in effective argumentation— from writing a strong claim to deeply analyzing their evidence (not just restating it). Your child will produce more accurate writing faster and boost their confidence when asked to write about reading.

Students will head to middle school armed with personalized strategies to help them start the year with confidence. Topics covered include: organization, time management, task initiation, regulation and self-advocacy.
